Committees Overview

Annual Convention Committee

Plans programs for the Annual Convention, with meetings held in January and additional follow-ups.

On-site, assists designers with stage programs and ensures smooth event flow.

Auction Committee

Active at the Annual Convention, managing leftover products for auction.

Arranges products on-site for sale.

Constitution & Bylaws Committee

This committee prepares Bylaws changes and typically meets via conference call one to two times per year.

Decorations Committee

This committee is active at the Annual Convention. They are responsible for incorporating the convention theme into décor throughout the event including the hotel lobby, registration lobby, luncheon and VIP arrangements.

Design Contest

This committee is active at the Annual Conventions. The committee meets once or twice per year to determine the design competition categories for both events. The committee is active on site for the convention to check in design pieces, coordinate the judging and award prizes.

Educational Development

This committee meets three to four times per year to review Educational Opportunities and make suggestions for future courses.

Membership

This committee meets three to four times to review the current membership status of the association and to determine methods to retain current members and recruit new members.

Recognition

The committee will be responsible for nominating individuals for recognition. The general membership is welcome to nominate individuals at any time during the year. Those nominated will be reviewed by the committee and those selected for recognition will be honored at the Convention. Categories and nomination forms are available by clicking here.

Scholarship

This committee works with the donors of scholarship monies. There are scholarships’ available to those interested in the floral industry. Please visit or Scholarships page for more complete information.

Trade Fair

This committee meets one to two times per year to bring in vendors to demonstrate and sell product at the Annual Convention. They also review ways to increase vendor’s exposure to the attendees. On site, they welcome the vendors and make certain their needs are met and trade show rules are enforced.

Website

Review and edit website. Work to implement promotions of WUMFA events through the WUMFA website.
